Another new study analyzed data from annual survey of 12th graders

  • In 2016, the average 12th grader spent about 6 hours/day online, texting, and on social media.
  • In 2016, nearly a third of 12th graders hadn’t read a book for pleasure in a year. In the 1970s, 60% of 12th graders read a book or magazine almost every day.
