These horrible D.C. killings, based obviously on antisemitism, must end, NOW! Hatred and Radicalism have no place in the USA. Condolences to the families of the victims. So sad that such things as this can happen! God Bless You ALL!
President Donald Trump on the killing of two Israeli Embassy staff members in the nation’s capital. They were shot outside the Capital Jewish Museum after an event.
Who: Two staffers employed at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim. According to the embassy’s spokesperson, Tal Naim, the two were planning to get married.
What: Law enforcement believes Lischinsky and Milgrim were shot by a single suspect. That suspect remained at the scene and was detained by event security. Once in custody, the suspect chanted, “Free, free Palestine.” (Law enforcement has released the name of the suspect but SmartHER News does not publish names of shooters.)
When: Shortly after 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time Wednesday evening.
Where: Outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Northwest Washington.
Why: TBD. The Metropolitan Police Department is leading the investigation, and the FBI is investigating the shooting as a possible hate crime.
How: According to initial reports by law enforcement, the suspected shooter was seen pacing the scene before pulling out a handgun in front of a group leaving the museum.
Authorities say there is no active threat to the community at this time.
