… right now, we asses that there are more than 40 who have been injured. We do expect that number to continue to fluctuate …

Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh on the attack on United States forces that killed three soldiers.

Why It Matters: The Pentagon provided an update on the most significant attack on U.S. forces in the region in recent memory. The U.S. says, “We know that Iran is behind it,” but provided few other details. The three soldiers killed have been identified:

Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, GA
Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, GA
Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, GA

The Pentagon says they expect the numbers of injured to vary due to symptoms surfacing later, specifically related to traumatic brain injuries.

Many questions remain: Did air defense fail? Did human error lead to the drone being misidentified? Where was the drone fired from? Who exactly fired it? (The Pentagon says “Iranian-backed” militants – and early assessments point to Hezbollah – a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization).

The briefing begins at about 32 minutes and 45 seconds in the video above.
