New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D). A 9-year-old girl who vanished from a NY state park while on a family camping trip was located after a two-day search involving around 400 people; police have reported her to be “safe and in good health.”
What to Know: The young girl disappeared while riding her bike at a State Park in upstate New York. Investigators were able to locate her after analyzing a ransom note the suspect allegedly dropped in the family’s mailbox; police found fingerprints on the note, with one matching to a suspect “who was in a database from a 1999 DWI case, Hochul said” (The Associated Press). Law enforcement used the fingerprints to locate the suspect and found him and the 9-year-old girl in a camper on Monday.
