France Hits Hottest Day on Record

French PM Sébastien Lecornu as France recorded its hottest day since measurements began in 1947 on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching 44.3°C — about 112°F — in one part of the country. The extreme heat is disrupting transport, schools, and major landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. Officials also reported at least 40 drownings since last week, many involving young people swimming in unsupervised areas, as Europe continues to face prolonged, record-breaking temperatures.

U.S. Hosts Israel–Lebanon Talks in Washington

Secretary of State Marco Rubio as Israeli and Lebanese officials met in Washington on Tuesday for a fifth round of direct talks. Rubio said the negotiations over Lebanon are separate from the U.S.-Iran agreement, though Iran’s support for terrorist group Hezbollah remains part of broader regional discussions. The talks come as the U.S. works to reduce hostilities in Lebanon and implement last week’s memorandum of understanding with Iran. Talks are scheduled to continue Thursday.

Pres. Trump Announces “Permanent Repair” of Reflecting Pool
“We will drain some of the water, either immediately before or after the Fourth of July, to do the permanent repair.”
