Supreme Court Upholds Birthright Citizenship
“The Framers of the Fourteenth Amendment extended that promise to every free-born person in this land. We keep that promise today. “
Chief Justice John Roberts in the Supreme Court’s majority decision rejecting President Trump’s effort to end birthright citizenship through executive order for future generations.
The high court stood by the most widely accepted understanding of the 14th Amendment, ratified in 1868, that guarantees U.S. citizenship to nearly everyone born on American soil, regardless of their parents’ immigration status or citizenship.

Supreme Court Rules on Transgender Athlete Laws
“The Constitution and Title IX do not require an overhaul of women’s and girls’ sports throughout America.“
Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh writing for the majority opinion in a 6-3 decision holding that state laws restricting transgender girls from participating on female sports teams do not violate the U.S. Constitution or federal civil rights law.
The ruling upholds existing laws in 27 states that prevent transgender athletes from participating in female sports.

Three Firefighters Killed as Wildfires Rage Across the West

U.S. Wildland Fire Service Chief Brian Fennessy after federal officials released the identities of three firefighters — Emily Barker, 38; Nick Hutcherson, 27; and Sydney Watson, 27 — who died battling a fire along the Colorado-Utah border on Saturday. Their deaths come as dozens of wildfires burn across the western United States, with dangerous heat, drought and strong winds fueling explosive fire growth and prompting emergency declarations in some states.

A 31-Year-Old Woman is Killed by Alligator in Florida

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Lt. Grant Eller after a 31-year-old local woman died following an alligator attack near Orlando while swimming with friends. This marks the third reported alligator attack in seven days in Central Florida, prompting wildlife officials to warn residents about risks near waterways.

Secretary Kennedy Restores Presidential Fitness Test for First Time in More Than 60 Years
“A strong America depends on raising a healthy next generation.”
Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) after joining Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in Atlantic City to kick off the return of the Presidential Fitness Test, part of a nationwide effort to increase youth physical activity.
The revived test includes updated school fitness standards focused on strength, endurance, speed and agility as part of a broader push to improve children’s health and physical readiness.
The original test was phased out in 2012 and replaced with a more individualized, health-focused program amid concerns that the old model placed too much emphasis on athletic performance and peer comparison.
