We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.
ABC in a statement Monday regarding its decision to put Jimmy Kimmel back on the air. Broadcast media groups Sinclair and Nexstar both said they will not air the show.
What Happened: ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel off the air last Wednesday after his monologue about Charlie Kirk. The move came as Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Brendan Carr, in a podcast interview, urged broadcast companies to take action against Kimmel. Hours later, broadcast media companies Sinclair and Nexstar announced they would not air the show. The timing drew criticism from many, including Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who said it amounted to government overreach. Carr explained his views in an interview at the Concordia Summit yesterday.
