This certification is an important step forward for Prime Air … an autonomous drone delivery service that will one day deliver packages to our customers around the world.
- Amazon says Prime Air will offer drone delivery of packages weighing up to 5 pounds in 30 minutes or less. The drones operate without a human pilot and will transport items from one of Amazon’s more than 175 fulfillment centers across the globe.

- In 2016, Amazon conducted its first trial in Cambridge, England – the entire process took 13 minutes from click to delivery, and on Monday, the company announced it received FAA approval to operate as an air carrier, allowing Amazon to conduct trials here in America.
- BIG PICTURE: TBD on an when or where the trials will take place, or when Amazon Prime Air will become widely available. Amazon is the third company, behind Alphabet subsidiary Wing and UPS, to receive FAA approval for commercial delivery trials.
