Archeologists Discover “World’s Oldest Known Bread”

We can say that this find at Çatalhöyük is the oldest bread in the world.

Archeologist Ali Umut Türkcan, associate professor at Anadolu University in Turkey, discussing an 8,600-year-old uncooked and fermented piece of bread found in Turkey. 

Why It Matters: Considered the world’s oldest known bread,” archeologists made the finding after discovering a residue in a mostly ruined oven structure found in a preserved site known as one of the first major urban areas in the world (dating between 10,000 BC and 2,000 BC).
