After a two-day manhunt in which hundreds of law enforcement officials left their families to run into danger and deliver justice for Melissa and Mark Hortman, Vance Boelter has been apprehended.
Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) in a statement Sunday night. The “largest manhunt in the state’s history” ended with authorities capturing the suspected shooter accused of killing state Rep. Melissa Hortman (D-MN) and her husband, Mark, and injuring state Sen. John Hoffman (D-MN) and his wife, Yvette.
What To Know: The suspect wore a mask and dressed like a police officer during the attacks over the weekend, with authorities discovering survival gear and a list of “a large number of people” in his car. Police have not publicly identified a motive, but Gov. Walz said it “appears to be a politically motivated assassination” in a press conference. Following the attacks, the manhunt involved local, state and federal agencies to locate and capture the suspect in the woods of Minnesota, about an hour away from the scene of the crime and near the suspect’s home.
