I never thought a PBGV would do this. Buddy Holly is the epitome of a show dog.

Handler and co-owner Janice Hayes, referring to Buddy Holly, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen (PBGV) that won Best in Show at the 147th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

Why It Matters: The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show – the most prestigious dog competition in the U.S. – wrapped up on Tuesday evening in New York City. This year’s top winner is Buddy Holly, marking the first time a Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen has won Best in Show. He competed against more than 2,500 dogs ranging 200+ breeds.
