A strong cold front will bring an unseasonably cool air mass to much of the Lower 48.

The National Weather Service (NWS) over the weekend forecasting lower temperatures for most U.S. states east of the Rockies.

Why It Matters: While the NWS says most states can expect forecasted highs “10 to 30 degrees below average for this time of year,” the cold front also brings a risk of storms across Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma and portions of the Mid-South. Flash flooding also remains possible in parts of the Intermountain West through Wednesday.

Also Noteworthy: While many states will experience fall-like weather, southern Texas, Florida and states west of the Rockies will heat up with above-average temperatures.
