The bill is passed.
Senator Murkowski (R-Alaska) announcing the Senate’s final vote on a six-month spending bill that will fund the government through September 30th. Democrats joined with Republicans to advance the bill to a final vote, that passed mainly along party lines; Republicans hold the majority in both the Senate and the House.
Why It Matters: This spending legislation, passed through the House and Senate, narrowly avoids a government shutdown, but only temporarily funds the government until the Fall, when Congress will once again have to tackle a spending budget to keep the government operating.
