White House COVID-19 coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx said there is a "disproportional number of new cases compared to the actual new cases" in part because of increased testing availability.
What to Know

“We’re asking that anyone who has traveled out of the New York City metropolitan area to anywhere else in the country to self-isolate for 14 days.”

Vice President Mike Pence on the latest guidance for those who recently traveled to, or, left NYC, referring to the New York City metropolitan area as "high-risk."
What to Know

“This package will be the single-largest Main Street assistance program in the history of the United States.”

National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow on the roughly $2 trillion COVID-19 relief package working its way through the U.S. Congress. He said some of the aid package will go to direct assistance, including direct deposit checks up to $3,000 for a family of four. The final package is TBD.

“What we don’t have right now that we really do need is we need to know what’s going on in those areas of the country where there isn’t an obvious outbreak.”

Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci on a lingering question about the COVID-19 contagion. He says more rigorous testing will help determine public health measures - and reiterated these guidelines may look different region to region.

President Trump on when he would like to ease some of the guidelines on social distancing for "at least for a large portion of our country." He said he will be guided by Dr. Birx & Dr. Fauci - Dr. Fauci expressed the challenge of anticipating a timeline and the need to be flexible.
What to Know

Easter Sunday was mentioned several times in the briefing as a potential goal for relaxing guidelines. Just a reminder, the government's 15-day social distancing guidelines holds until THIS coming Monday. Easter Sunday is still two weeks later on Sunday, April 12th.
