I share these three new honors with my fans, who have allowed me to enjoy such a long career.

Country music singer Dolly Parton after being awarded three new Guinness World Records.

Why It Matters: Dolly Parton has set the record for the longest span of No. 1 songs for a female artist on the U.S. Top Country Albums chart.

  • Longest span of No. 1 hits on the US Top Country Albums chart (female)
  • Most studio albums released by a female country singer
  • Most Top 10 entries on the US Top Country Albums chart (female)

She has had eight albums hit the No. 1 spot over a 43+ year period – the first being her 1977 album, “New Harvest… First Gathering,” with the latest being her 2020 “A Holly Dolly Christmas.” In total, she has released 67 studio albums since her career took off in 1967, prompting an honor from Guinness World Records for most studio albums released by a female country singer!

Something To Consider: Parton, 77, ranks third behind all country artists for career spanning top albums. Johnny Cash’s top records span 50 years and Merle Haggard’s big hits span 48 years; both artists have since passed away. Parton is unique, however, in that she has also been awarded with the most top 10 entries for a female artist on the U.S. Top Country Albums chart.
