“Sex In The City” Tutu Among “Signature Styles” Auctioned

The oyster white tulle three-tier tutu skirt with a matching satin waistband worn by [Sarah Jessica] Parker … was originally found for five dollars in a bin in New York by the show’s legendary costume designer Patricia Field.

Julien’s Auctions, the auction house that sold the famous tutu worn by Sarah Jessica Parker’s character, Carrie Bradshaw, in the opening credits for the “Sex and the City” TV series.

Big Picture: While originally estimated to sell for $8,000, the tutu fetched an unexpected $52,000. Beyond the opening credits of the 1998-2004 HBO TV show, the look reappeared in the “Sex and the City” (2008) movie and in the TV show reboot, “And Just Like That” (2021) – as a longer version.

Other items sold in the auction include dresses worn by Princess Diana and Audrey Hepburn.
