The FBI has for quite some time now assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan… you are talking about a potential leak from a Chinese government-controlled lab.
FBI Director Chris Wray confirming for the first time publicly the agency’s belief the virus that caused the COVID-19 pandemic came from a Chinese lab.
Why It Matters: This revelation in a television interview comes days after The Wall Street Journal reported the Energy Department has also come to the conclusion that a Chinese lab-leak is to blame for the release of the deadly SARS-COV-2 virus – not an animal-to-human transfer that occurred in nature. However, it's worth noting, several other intelligence agencies disagree with this theory and the U.S. government has not reached consensus yet.
Bottom Line: Over the last few days, we've seen two high profile reports (either on the record as with the FBI interview or off via the WSJ) pointing directly at the Chinese government.
Director Wray pointedly said the Chinese have attempted to “thwart and obfuscate” investigations into the origin, and the investigation continues.
