Special Agents Laura Schwartzenberger (43) and Daniel Alfin (36), were killed and three other FBI officers were injured when a suspect opened fire while the agents attempted to execute a search warrant for a “violent crimes against children investigation” in Sunrise, Florida. The suspect also died.
- On-duty killings of FBI agents are fairly rare. The last on-duty killing of an FBI agent serving a warrant dates was in 2008.
- To date this year, 10 on-duty law enforcement officers have been feloniously killed. That’s six more than compared to the same time in 2020, which ended in the felonious killing of 47 officers , according to FBI data.
