
Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter has entered hospice care at home.
The Carter Center in a statement on Friday announcing that former first lady of the United States, Rosalynn Carter (96), has entered hospice care at her home in Plains, Georgia.
Why It Matters: This news comes more than five months after the announcement that Rosalynn had been diagnosed with dementia. Her husband, the 39th President of the U.S., Jimmy Carter (the longest-living U.S. president who celebrated is 99th birthday in October), has been receiving hospice care at home since February. The two are the longest-married first couple in U.S. history, and celebrated their 77th wedding in July. The former President once said of Rosalynn, “The best thing I ever had happen in my life was when she said she’d marry me.”
