National security adviser Jake Sullivan regarding President Biden’s trip to the G7 Summit in Italy, which begins on Thursday and wraps up on Saturday.

Why It Matters: The annual G7 summit includes leaders from the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. The three-day summit provides an opportunity for world leaders to gather face-to-face and discuss a wide range of topics. It comes in the wake of a European Parliament election where lawmakers from “right” or more conservative platforms from a variety of countries have gained seats. The summit will touch on global conflicts, such as wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as the spread of artificial intelligence (including a speech from the pope on the topic), increased migration to Europe, and relations with China.
