The real hero of the day is the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in that food court and was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as he began.Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Ison about a 22-year-old who shot and killed a man who had just shot several people in the food court at an Indiana mall; 3 of the victims died.
- Why It Matters: The shooter was stopped by a legal gun owner before police arrived.
- 2 other people were injured, including a 12-year-old girl.
- The shooting happened around 6 p.m. Sunday evening in Greenwood, a suburb of Indianapolis. We have very few details about the male shooter at the mall — not even a description or motive — and little information about the 22-year-old man who shot and killed him. Law enforcement promises more info on Monday.
- Something To Note: Separately in Florida, the sentencing trial will begin for the former student who plead guilty to killing his classmates at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida in 2018. Jurors will decide if he faces life in prison or the death penalty.
