If there was anything I could do to produce a favorable outcome, more campaign stops, more interviews, I would do it. But I can’t ask our supporters to volunteer their time or donate their resources if we don’t have a clear path to victory.Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) suspending his presidential campaign and endorsing former President Trump.
Why It Matters: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis initially posed one of the greatest perceived challenges to former President Trump’s run for the Republican nomination for president. The exit of DeSantis from the race brings an even brighter spotlight to New Hampshire Tuesday – the site of the the first primary in the nation – and the face-off between fmr. South Carolina governor Nikki Haley and fmr. Pres. Trump.
Context: Some (voters and political analysts alike) have suggested if Haley cannot win the primary in New Hampshire, her path to the nomination doesn’t look likely, leaving former President Trump to run away from the pack. However, if Haley can win New Hampshire the question remains about whether or not she can garner enough support from the exits of Chris Christie, Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis to become a greater threat to Pres. Trump who maintains a double-digit lead over competitors.
