… we are voluntarily recalling these products.

Baby product manufacturer Green Sprouts in a statement recalling more than 10,500 toddler sippy cups and bottles due to concern for potential lead exposure from the products.

Details: Green Sprouts has voluntarily recalled more than 10,500 six and eight-ounce stainless-steel cups and bottles for toddlers, sold in the colors aqua, navy, green and pink. The bottom base of these products can break off and expose a soldering dot containing lead; NPR reports: "Lead is poisonous to all ages, but the metal is particularly harmful to children … Lead exposure in children can cause a range of adverse health effects including developmental delays and learning disabilities."

Why It Matters: The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission says "Consumers should immediately take the recalled stainless steel bottles and cups away from children and discard the bottles and cups." They advise consumers to contact Green Sprouts for store credit or a full refund for the bottles/cups, which were sold between January 2020 to September 2022. There have been seven reports of the bottles' base breaking off and no injuries reported.
