Where she could fall into a trap is really trying to pit this as a U.S. versus China trip. It should be a U.S. trip to our friends and partners in Southeast Asia.

  • Feldman want on to say that too much emphasis on China will make “it harder for our friends to move forward across the region, not only in Singapore and Vietnam but beyond that.”
  • Vice President Harris will visit Singapore and Vietnam.
  • During the VP’s first stop in Singapore, the U.S. & Singapore emphasized their cooperation on cybersecurity, COVID-19 and climate change
  • Why It Matters: This is the vice president’s second foreign trip; she previously visited Central America and Mexico to address the record numbers of encounters at the U.S. southern border. It is notable this trip is continuing despite the continued developments in Afghanistan and shows the administration’s focus on Southeast Asia.
