It is a tenet of my faith that the Constitution is divinely inspired. I would not do it.

Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers (R) on rejecting what he described as pressure by the White House after the 2020 election to “decertify” Arizona’s election results in favor of former Pres. Trump.
  • Bowers says he voted for former Pres. Trump and supported him, but that Pres. Trump's team did not have evidence of voter fraud in Arizona.
  • Bowers describes increasing pressure from the White House as time passed from Election Day toward the deadline for certifying the election results.
  • His comments were echoed by other election officials who describe their willingness to investigate voter fraud but never uncovered any, nor received any evidence from the White House to support these claims.
  • Why It Matters: The fourth hearing held by the House Select Committee investigating the events of January 6th highlighted the pressure that the White House, including former Pres. Trump, allegedly put on state officials to try to overturn the election results without evidence.
  • Pres. Trump has denied these claims.
