Newly-elected House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
Why It Matters: Speaker McCarthy is now second in line for the presidency and the leader of the House. He will set the agenda for priorities in the House of Representatives.
Speaker McCarthy was elected in the early hours of January 7th – on the 15th round of voting.
