Beryl’s moving inland but this is not the end of the story yet.

Senior hurricane specialist at the National Hurricane Center, Jack Beven, after the Category 1 hurricane made landfall in Texas and moves across the Texas coast. Over 1 million people remain without power since Beryl made landfall.

Why It Matters: Beryl solidified itself as the earliest Category 5 storm to hit the Atlantic Ocean during hurricane season. Since it caused destruction in the Caribbean last week, Beryl weakened into a Category 1 hurricane, hitting the Texas coast early on Monday morning. According to the National Weather Service, Beryl will likely weaken to a tropical storm on Monday then a tropical depression on Tuesday as it moves through the lower Mississippi Valley then the Ohio Valley.
