Keep in mind that this is an investigation that is also in its infancy. So any speculation about what has happened would be just that.
Commissioner Bob Jacobson of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety on a shooting involving an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officer.
Why It Matters: A 37-year-old woman died after being shot by an ICE officer on the streets of Minneapolis while driving in her SUV. The Dept. of Homeland Security called the shooting an act of “domestic terrorism,” arguing the agent acted in self-defense as the woman “weaponized her vehicle” and attempted to hit him. According to DHS Sec. Noem: “The ICE officer fearing for his life, and the other officers around him, and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots.”
Meanwhile, the Minneapolis mayor described the incident as murder: “What they (ICE) are doing is not to provide safety in America. What they are doing is causing chaos and distrust. They are ripping families apart. They are sowing chaos on our streets. And in this case, quite literally killing people.”
“The FBI and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are each investigating the shooting.” (local Minneapolis news)
