I was walking pretty fast on 18 and he says, ‘Slow down, Mommy, I want to enjoy this moment.’Professional golfer Annika Sörenstam, one of the top women golfers in history, describing what her 12-year-old son Will McGee said to her on the final hole of the 2023 PNC Championship they competed in as a team.
Big Picture: Over the weekend, Sörenstam and her son competed in the PNC Championship – described by the PNC Financial Group as “a premier golf tournament featuring major champions and their family members.” The tournament dates back to 1995, and in 2019, Sörenstam – a 10-time Ladies Professional Golf Association major tournament champion – became the first woman to attend “teaming up with her father“ (who attended this year’s tournament along with Sörenstam’s husband Mike McGee and 14-year-old daughter Ava).
After the event, Sörenstam’s son Will – the youngest player at the tournament – said, “It’s the best week of my year, and life … It’s so much fun being able to do it with her.”
Golf legend Tiger woods and his 14-year-old son were among those playing in the championship this year, along with the winner of the 2020 PNC Championship, Justin Thomas, who played with his father.
