• Congresswoman Omar says she hopes her fellow Democratic lawmakers understand they need to be “united behind the president’s agenda.”
• She says Democrats who don’t agree with the bill (she mentioned Sen. Sinema, D-AZ, by name) haven’t made it clear what they want changed.
• Meanwhile, Senate Republicans blocked a bill passed in the House that would keep the government funded temporarily and raise the debt ceiling (increase the nation’s credit limit). Republicans did not want to tie the two bills together. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell: “Let me make it abundantly clear one more time: We will support a clean continuing resolution that will prevent a government shutdown … We will not provide Republican votes for raising the debt limit.”

Why It Matters: The clock continues to tick down to a deadline of Sept. 30, 11:59 p.m., when current government funding expires.
