Israel Reportedly Fires Drones At Iran

Director of the Middle East and North Africa program at Chatham House, Sanam Vakil, commenting on an apparent Israeli drone attack on Iran.

Why It Matters: Israel, an established U.S. ally, and Iran, a U.S. designated state sponsor of terror, could be on the verge of increased conflict.

What To Know: Neither Israel nor Iran have officially commented on the drone attack regarding who is responsible, but Iranian troops fired their air defenses at a major air base early on Friday. While this story is developing, Israel is assumed to be responsible for the strike as retaliation for Iran’s unprecedented drone-and-missile attack on Israel that took place last weekend.
