January 6th Committee Hearing

• Why It Matters: This was the 8th hearing of the House Select Committee investigation into the events of January 6. The committee will continue hearings in September.
• The committee painted a picture of a president who, despite the urging of colleagues and family, did not act while the Capitol riot intensified; the question remains whether the Committee will subpoena former President Trump (asking him to testify) or recommend further charges to the Justice Department.
• Pottinger, a Marine, served under President Trump and shared one way he believes the events of January 6 impacted America.
