This move will unleash the power of our brands and unlock the potential of our business.

Kraft Heinz CEO Carlos Abrams-Rivera in a statement Tuesday announcing the split of the two companies.

Why It Matters: After the split, one company will focus on shelf-stable meals, including Heinz, Philadelphia cream cheese and Kraft Mac & Cheese. The other company will retain Oscar Meyer, Kraft Singles and Lunchables. Kraft and Heinz originally merged in 2015 and created the “5th largest food and beverage company in the world.” (AP)

Did You Know? Heinz first manufactured horseradish, not ketchup. Its horseradish was launched in 1869, while Heinz ketchup first debuted in 1876.
