"I didn’t write for the men; I wrote for us women. And the men loved it, too.”

Lynn, one of eight children, was born in a coal mining town in Kentucky, and became one of country music's biggest stars *after* she became a mother of four (she went on to have two more children). She did not shy away from tough topics like birth control pills, divorce, sex and love, and was criticized for it, at times but that didn't keep her from writing and singing – She won four Grammys, was accepted to the Country Music Hall of Fame, and awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She released her 50th solo album in 2021.
