Javier Cutipa, 39, who was at the National University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru, just before police raided the school amid continued political turmoil in the country. Also on Saturday, authorities announced an indefinite closure of Machu Picchu.

Also on Saturday, police raided "Peru’s most important public university in Lima to evict protesters who were being housed at the campus while participating in big demonstrations," The Associated Press reports. This university – the National University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru – is one of the oldest universities in the Americas.
The turmoil began in early December with the impeachment and removal of the former president, and has continued with further protests. Learn more HERE.
