It always takes people by surprise when they think of young people reading, but Gen Z and Millennials definitely still read.Adult services director at Rock Island Library, Karrah Kuykendall, discussing a recent report released by the American Library Association.
Why It Matters: The report highlights that Gen Z and Millennials use public libraries at a higher rate than older generations – including both in-person and digital use. Additionally, the younger generations show preference for print books rather than digital versions, and the report specifies “that 54 percent of Gen Z and Millennials visited a physical library within the previous 12 months.”
