In the initial survey by GPR and ERT we found an anomaly in the north of the survey site.

A new study by Japanese and Egyptian researchers identifying a mysterious “L-shaped anomaly” located next to the Great Pyramids of Giza. Marking a unique discovery regarding ancient Egyptian civilization, archaeologists believe it could be a passage to a deeper structure detected near the pyramids.

Why It Matters: This discovery was found after archeologists used technology including ground-penetrating radar (GPR) around the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. Using mapping technology rather than physical excavations, researchers discovered an “L-shaped anomaly” and an accompanying deeper structure near the pyramids built approximately 4,500 years ago. While researchers note further study of their findings is necessary (e.g. excavations), they assume it warrants importance as the “L-shaped anomaly” could lead to the larger structure detected, which could be a tomb.
