New Study: High Heels Help With Efficient Walking

Assistant professor of kinesiology at the University of Texas at Austin, Owen Beck, who led a recent study suggesting that high heels could help people walk more efficiently.

Why It Matters: Researchers studied a small group of young people with little experience wearing high heels, then monitored how their body changed after consistently wearing heels. The results? Those who consistently wore heels became “more efficient walkers” (in both heels and flats) when compared to their pace prior to the experiment (The Washington Post).
