Tina Muir, who ran across the finish line with Kayleigh Williamson, who became one of the the first women with Down syndrome to complete the New York City Marathon.
Williamson ran in the NYC Marathon on Sunday. A joint Instagram post by Williamson and Muir shares that her 26.2-mile journey included “Ten hours of incredibly hard work and perseverance, plenty of dancing along the way, and making thousands of people literally light up with joy and love in seeing this momentous journey she was taking.”
Williamson, from Texas, completed the Austin Marathon in 2022 and distinguished herself as the first person with Down syndrome to complete the race. Following the achievement, Austin proclaimed Feb. 20 as “Kayleigh Williamson Day.“
