Britni Prybol, who enrolled her 8-year-old son in a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine study; Pfizer filed for vaccine emergency use authorization from the FDA for children ages 5 – 11.
  • The FDA has a meeting planned at the end of October to examine this EUA request.
  • The vaccine dose tested in 2200 + children is one-third of the dose given to adults.
  • Important Note: "The study isn’t large enough to detect any extremely rare side effects, such as the heart inflammation that sometimes occurs after the second dose of the regular-strength vaccine, mostly in young men." (AP)
  • Why It Matters: This would be the first COVID-19 vaccine granted emergency use for those under the age of 12.
