Pres. Trump Trial Begins In New York; No Cameras Allowed

It’s one of the most consequential trials of our modern age. I think the public has a right to see exactly what happens in that courtroom.

New York State Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal who sponsored a bill to loosen restrictions on cameras in New York court rooms: “We’re the media capital of the world, we like to think, and the fact that cameras aren’t permitted in one of our three branches of government is unacceptable.”

Why It Matters: New York has one of the strictest laws in the nation on audio/video recordings in the courtroom. Former President Trump faces charges related to “hush money payments” made ahead of the 2016 election; the first criminal case to begin in earnest against a former President in U.S. history began in New York this week.
