Brad Snyder, a Navy veteran turned Paralympian, lost his eyesight due to an improvised explosive device (IED) while serving in Afghanistan in 2011. Exactly one year later, Snyder won gold in the men's 400 meter freestyle at the 2012 Paralympic Games (and went on to medal several times in both 2012 & 2016). This year he has set a new goal, and will be competing in a different sport – Paratriathlon – in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, which open this Tuesday.
