New York Prepares for Reported Madison Square Garden Event
“The NYPD will of course have a detail in place.”
New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch on an event the department is “tracking at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.” Tisch did not give specifics, but when asked a question referencing Taylor Swift and past terror plots tied to her concerts, she said the NYPD will assign “the appropriate resources based on their threat assessment for that specific private event.”
Her comments came amid growing speculation — and media reports citing unnamed officials — that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce plan to hold a wedding celebration at MSG this weekend. The couple has not publicly confirmed the event.

Couple Arrested After Scaling Empire State Building and Proposing at the Top

The message displayed on a banner hoisted by daredevil climbers Angela Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov after they scaled the spire of the 1,450-foot Empire State Building Wednesday. Kuznetsov appeared to propose before police took the pair into custody. Building management called the climb unauthorized, and NYPD confirmed the two were taken into custody and now face multiple charges, including burglary and reckless endangerment.

Labor economist Nicole Bachaud after new data showed U.S. employers added just 57,000 jobs in June, marking the slowest month of hiring since February. The unemployment rate edged down to 4.2% from 4.3%, though the decline largely reflected a drop in the number of people actively looking for work.

West Nile Virus Cases Reach Highest Early-Season Level Since 2004
“These findings serve as an important reminder that mosquito season is well underway.“
CDC medical epidemiologist Dr. Erin Staples after the agency reported Wednesday the highest number of U.S. West Nile virus cases by the end of June in more than 20 years. At least 48 infections have been reported, well above the historical average of 10 cases by this point in the year.
As millions of Americans prepare to spend time outdoors over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, the CDC urges people to use EPA-registered insect repellent, wear long sleeves and pants, avoid peak mosquito hours, and keep mosquitoes out with window screens or air conditioning.

President Trump Visits New Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Ahead of July 4 Opening

President Donald Trump after being escorted by Rough Riders reenactors to the newly built Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota, where he cut the ribbon ahead of its official July 4 opening and praised the 26th president as “a man who embodied the heart and soul and fight and spirit of our country.”
The library sits near the Badlands that helped shape Roosevelt’s identity as an outdoorsman and conservationist. President Trump also announced federal support for the $450 million project and highlighted Roosevelt’s legacy as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.
