Recall Of Nearly 5 Million Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaners

February 13, 2023

Fabuloso® is voluntarily recalling some of our Multi-Purpose Cleaners made in the United States because a preservative was not added at the intended levels during manufacturing.

Cleaning product company Fabuloso recalling nearly 5 million bottles of their Multi-Purpose Cleaners due to potential infection-causing bacteria.

Why It Matters: Due to “inadequate preservative,” the recalled products are at risk of having Pseudomonas bacteria, which are environmental organisms found widely in soil and water.” According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, if people with underlying lung conditions, weakened immune systems or external medical devices are exposed to this bacteria, they “face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment.” Those with healthy immune systems are typically not impacted by this type of bacteria.

Big Picture: The recalled products were made in the U.S. between December 14, 2022 and January 23, 2023. Fabuloso says that out of the nearly 5M bottles of cleaning product recalled, about 80% “were never released for sale.” As of Wednesday, February 8, no injuries or incidents related to the recall had been reported. The CPSC also reports that an additional 56,000 bottles were recalled in Canada.

If you own a product included in the recall, Fabuloso advises: “You should immediately stop using the recalled product. Once you’ve confirmed that the Fabuloso® you have is part of the recall, and have submitted a request for reimbursement, dispose of the product in its container with household trash. Do not empty the product prior to disposal.”
