Gas prices rise to a record-breaking, new national average.

Americans have never seen gasoline prices this high, nor have we seen the pace of increases so fast and furious.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, on the new national average for a price of a gallon of gas – $4.17. This new record average is 7 cents higher than the previous record average of $4.10, set in 2008.
