Rockefeller Tree Arrives

November 14, 2021

All summer long he and his team took care of it, dead wooded it and fed it every couple of weeks … about early September he said, “This is the one.””

Maryland resident Devon Price on his 79-foot Norway spruce selected as the Rockefeller Christmas tree.
  • Devon and Julie Price owned the property where the approximately 85-year-old tree lived. Although they described emotion watching the tree being cut down, they also said concern had grown about the tree falling down during a storm: “It’s sad but it’s going to be a good thing. It’s going to make a lot of people happy for the holidays.” – Julie Price
  • The Rockefeller Center gardener stumbled upon the tree, during a spring trip. This is the first Rockefeller Center tree coming from Maryland.
  • Why It Matters: The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree tradition dates back more than 80 years, and the Rockefeller tree is often known as one of the most famous Christmas trees in the world!
