This discovery allows us to see this remarkable long-necked animal in full for the very first time.

Dr. Nick Fraser FRSE, Keeper of Natural Sciences at National Museums Scotland, part of a group of researchers who helped reveal a 240-million-year-old fossil “reminiscent of the long and snake-like, mythical Chinese Dragon.”

Why It Matters: Although a fossil for this creature was first discovered just more than 20 years ago, the latest findings reflect a more complete picture of “the bizarre long-necked creature in full for the very first time” (National Museums Scotland).
