Texas Rangers player, Marcus Semien, who ended the 2023 World Series with a two-run home run in the ninth inning. The Texas Rangers won the World Series, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0.

Why It Matters: The win marks the first time in the Ranger’s franchise history (63 years) that the team earned the World Series title. The team rounded out the series without two of their major players, Max Scherzer and Adolis Garcia, who were injured in Game 3 and had to sit the final two games out.

Considering the Texas Rangers lost 102 games in 2021, the win makes them the “third team in baseball history to win the World Series within two seasons of losing 100-plus games,” ESPN reports.
