• According to his obituary, Sicknick lived a life “characterized by public service,” including six years in the National Guard and 12 years with the Capitol Police. He also rescued dachshunds, and had two of his own, Sparky and Pebbles.
• Sicknick will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, among other military service members, and some of the most famous names in American history including former president John F. Kennedy and the first African American Justice of the Supreme Court, Thurgood Marshall.
• Authorities charged more than 170 people and are investigating more than 400 others for their involvement in the riot, that left some 140 officers injured.
