The Kansas City Chiefs Win Super Bowl LVIII

February 12, 2024

It’s the start of [a dynasty], but we’re not done.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes after the 2024 Super Bowl win.

Why It Matters: The Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime during the Las Vegas matchup on Sunday. This marks the Chief’s second win in a row after beating the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023 and their third win in the last five years. They are the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since 2005.

According to Bleacher Report, this was “just the second overtime in the history of the Super Bowl …From there, Mahomes led the Chiefs 75 yards down the field to win it on a touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman Jr.”

Other notable moments? Usher’s 15-minute halftime performance (two minutes longer than typical halftime shows) and Taylor Swift flying from Tokyo to Vegas to cheer on her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
